*To all people waiting on my other comic 'Swallowed Whole By The Darkness' ( [link]
) don't worry, i'm not abandoning it, i am going to finish it, i will co-ordinate between that one and my new one. It's just that this idea has been burning in my head for over a week now, and i'm afraid that i will lose my passion for it if i don't start soon. Besides, lots of DA artists have more than one comic or series going at a time, and they seem to do it just fine
S*#t is going down people XD
So here's the idea, as a kid, i really wanted to see the united pride do something cool together as a team. Instead they just roar at the end of the movie. I don't know if it's just me, but i always thought that was a pretty lame and predictable ending to the Lion King legacy. So i recently decided to finish 'Simba's Pride' myself, the way i want it to end.
And it's not a story per say, it's more like a scene or sequence, in comic form, with a twist near the end. So here's the very simple plot to it: Basically there's a rival lion hanging around the Pridelands, a very unwelcome visitor. King Simba has himself driven out the rogue many times, but clearly the mysterious lion doesn't take him seriously and keeps returning. So Simba decides to lead his conjoined pride to where the rogue is, and drive it out as one powerful unit.
*Yeah, i just noticed that some of Kovu and Kiara's legs are missing, please ignore that.*
Oh and i'm keeping Simba and Nala's original TLK 1 colors and designs. Oh my god, i HATE their designs in Lion King 2! They both look distorted and just not quite right. Simba is fatter and a lot darker for some reason, and Nala looks like someone spilled bleach on her. I know they had different artists for TLK 2 than they did for the first one, due to a lower budget, and that's fair enough. But they could've at least got their colors right! Geez! Even Pride Rock looks different! it's skinnier and a darker brown color. Come on Disney, get it together!
i should also mention that like all my comics; past, present and i assume future, this will have absolutely NO dialogue in it. And i have a few reasons for this:
1. It doesn't need any. The scene is easy to follow without it.
2. To me, (and this doesn't apply to all comics) whether it's in a thought/speech bubble or caption, text seems to be too distracting and often gets in the way of the art. Although some artists manage to combine the two perfectly.
3. The last but not the least important reason is, that this scene/sequence/comic whatever you want to call it, was entirely inspired by a song. And even the song doesn't have lyrics/words in it. It's mostly instrumental, it does have a woman singing, but she doesn't sing any actual words, just syllables (i think, it's hard to understand her)
Anyway the song i mentioned is called 'Fill My Heart' by Two Steps From Hell. It's quite short, but it's dramatic. And it's perfect for portraying a bittersweet war scene. If you want to listen to it, here's the link to the youtube clip: [link]
