*If you want a full detailed description as to why Taka looks different in this comic, GO HERE: [link]
Basically, (if you can't be bothered going back and forth between pages) Taka looks different here because he himself is different. The 'Lion King' villains are nearly always dark in complection (with the exception of Zira) and the exception of Kovu as well (since he had a dark coat but was good at heart). And color is a great source for symbolism, Disney does it all the time. Especially in TLK, for example; 'Green' represents envy, hence the reason for Scar's eye color, and so on. Generally in the Disney universe, dark = evil, and bright = Good. So this blue eyed, lighter coated Taka symbolises the good in Scar, at least before the darkness took over his heart.
Which leads me to the shadow creature, Mabaya. An ancient, mysterious spirit that lives on the back of shadows, and can only emerge when in the presense of a weakened heart. Only then can he unleash his full potential as you'll see later on. And lastly, Nobody can actually see Mabaya. Why? Because he's not really there. His entire 'existense' in this alternative universe is metaphorical, not physical. You have to think about Mabaya, not so much as a real character; but what he represents symbolically.

This 'theory' of mine is just a bit of fun. So please people, try not to start a debate on which theory is the correct one, because there is no correct theory. This is just a concept that i wanted to play around with. And no rude comments either please. Thank you.
